Taliban attack kills 25 in north: Afghan officials

District chief Fazeluddin Muradi says that the insurgents’ attack also wounded at least eight pro-government fighters, during several hours of battle late Friday in the area of Nahrin. A police official, who was not authorized to speak on the issue, confirmed the high death toll. Taliban did not immediately claim the attack, but recently the militant group has stepped up its offensive against Afghan security forces. The US is opening Saturday in Qatar a fresh round of peace talks with the militants to end the country’s long-running civil war. Searches launched in Kishtwar: Police

💻Jk News info 📰 The security forces launched a search operation after suspected movement of militants was reported from the main town Kishtwar. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Shakti Kumar Pathak, said that movement of few suspected militants was “reported” today at evening hours due to which all checking points were closed. “The search operation was launched by Police, SOG and Army across the town in which maximum public and private vehicles were stopped at all checking points in order to check them properly”, he said. Police officer killed as car plunges into gorge in Doda

💻Jk News info 📰 BHADERWAH/JAMMU: An assistant sub-inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed on Saturday when his car skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, officials said. ASI Vikram Singh (45), a resident of Gatha village of Bhaderwah, was posted in Kishtwar police station in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wing, they said. He was on his way to work when he lost control of the car, which then plunged into the gorge at Galgandhar on the Pul Doda-Bhadarwah National Highway, about 27 km from his home town, around 8.30 am, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bhadarwah, Adil Rishu said. He said locals and police personnel reached the spot immediately and rushed him to the district hospital in Doda, where he was declared brought dead by doctors. India, Indonesia set USD 50-bn trade target by 2025
