Kishtwar: At least 31 killed after bus falls into gorge in Kishtwar

Kishtwar: At least 31 people were killed and 13 others were injured in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
According to initial reports, the accident took place after a bus, carrying the passengers, fell into a deep gorge in Kishtwar. Authorities are present at the accident spot.
Local sources said that the death toll in the accident may rise even further.
Reports claimed that the passenger vehicle, a minibus bearing registration number JK17-6787, was on its way to Kishtwar from Keshwan when it skidded off the road near Srigwari and fell into a deep gorge. Locals said the vehicle was overloaded.
According to the officials, the accident took place at 8.40 am when the minibus was heading towards Kishtwar from Keshwan.
Locals with the help of police and administration are engaged in the rescue operation. Police said that the first priority is to ensure rescue and safety of the passengers.

Traffic to ply from Jammu to Srinagar for 2nd consecutive day, no vehicle from Kashmir

Two-way traffic has been restored on the national highway, which connects Ladakh region with Kashmir while only one-way traffic will continue on historic 86-km-long Mughal road, seen as alternative to Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
