Where are Pak-US relations heading after Doha deal?

 

MATRIXMAG Chief Editor looks at how the US looks at Pakistan and whether views of President Trump’s key aides will change after Pakistan’s central facilitating role in the Afghan peace process. He believes that the current US approach towards Pakistan is one of a good cop bad cop, with President Trump acting as the good cop while some of his deputies and advisors at the State Department and the White House are acting as the bad cops.

Imtiaz Gul believes that there is no reason for Islamabad to expect any let-up in the hostile views, particularly of those key US officials who apparently are more given to the Indian narrative. And that is why, it appears, that geopolitical considerations are likely to define the US policy on Pakistan in the coming months and years.
